What your inner voice is whispering to you?
“I’m not fully ready.”
“I need more time.”
“Let me think about it a little more.”
And the most interesting part? It doesn’t sound like doubt. It sounds like logic.
When Self-Doubt Disguises Itself as Intelligence
This is why impostor syndrome is so difficult to recognize, it pulls you into what I call the Inner Impostor trap. What feels like responsibility is often an old pattern keeping you silent and away from risk.
Because it doesn’t always show up as insecurity. It shows up as responsibility, aiming for high standards and professionalism.
You are not hearing a voice that says, “You’re not good enough.”
You are hearing a voice that says: “Let’s just make sure everything is perfect first.”
And that’s where it becomes subtle.
The Inner Impostor
What many call impostor syndrome, I call the Inner Impostor or Inner Voice
This voice is not your enemy and it really believes it is protecting you from struggle. So it always try to avoid you being seen, being judged, making mistakes or not meeting expectations
If you deeply connect with this voice it will tell you that it wants to protect you. But when it goes unnoticed, it starts to hold you back.
The Cost of Not Noticing
When the Inner Impostor is running quietly in the background, it doesn’t stop you completely.
It just slows you down.
You might:
- overprepare more than necessary
- hesitate before speaking
- delay decisions you are ready to make
- question things you already know
And from the outside, it still looks like competence. But inside, it feels like friction.
Awareness: The First Crossing
At The Bridge, we begin with Awareness.
Noticing and recognizing this Inner Voice. Awareness is the moment you start seeing:
“This is not necessarily the truth; this is a voice.” And is my choice to follow it or not. And that small shift creates space.
Closing
You are someone who has learned to operate at a high level while carrying an internal voice that has not been fully seen yet.
This week is not about changing who you are. It’s about seeing more clearly what is happening inside you.
Because awareness is where the crossing begins.
If this resonates, stay with me this month at The Bridge. We are moving through Awareness, Alignment, and Action — together.
And if this feels like something you want to explore more deeply now,
you can schedule a conversation with me.
Noticing the Voice
This week is not about changing anything. It’s about seeing clearly.
Exercise 1 Catch the Voice (Real-Time Awareness)
Objective: Start recognizing when the Inner Impostor is speaking
How to do it:
Throughout your day, notice moments when you hesitate, overthink, or hold back.
When that happens, pause for a few seconds and ask: “What is the exact sentence in my mind right now?”
Write it down (mentally or physically):
Examples:
- “I’m not fully ready”
- “I need more time”
- “This needs to be better”
- “What if I get this wrong?”
Then add one simple layer:
Label it: “This is my Inner Impostor speaking.”
Important:
- Don’t argue with it
- Don’t try to fix it
- Don’t judge it
Just notice and name
Exercise 2 — Logic or Protection? (End-of-Day Reflection)
Objective:
Understand how the voice disguises itself
At the end of your day, reflect on 1–2 moments:
Ask yourself:
“What did the voice sound like?”
Was it:
- logical?
- responsible?
- perfectionist?
- cautious?
Then go one step deeper:
“What was it trying to protect me from?”
- Being judged?
- Making a mistake?
- Not meeting expectations?
- Feeling exposed?
Write 1 sentence:
“Today, my Inner Impostor showed up as ______
trying to protect me from ______.”
Example:
“Today, my Inner Impostor showed up as ‘I need more time’
trying to protect me from being judged in that meeting.”
